As part of the revamping of Red Rocks, the home of the Wm. Allen White family, an orientation video was created by Kansas State Historical Society to be shown to visitors prior to the tour. It is brief, well-organized, and should suit even younger children, so I inquired about its availability for use in schools/libraries. I am pleased to let the library world know that Jennie Chinn, KSHS director, has made this video available through the Red Rocks website: http://www.kshs.org/p/red-rocks-orientation-video/18286
She commented that, in the interest of brevity, the legacy of WAW, including the children’s book awards program, is not pursued. I think you’ll find this video will provide a brief overview of White’s family up to the current generation and, as president of the community partnership board which works with KSHS to oversee the house, hope it will stimulate many visitors to Red Rocks this spring and summer! Be sure to take a look at the main site: http://www.kshs.org/red_rocks
There will be a dinner theatre at Red Rocks beginning later this month as well as programs on the porch each Sunday in June.
